Dear Instructor/Coach

We would like to invite you to Europe’s largest Martial Arts Tournament The Irish Open has evolved into the NO 1 Tournament in Europe, nothing compares to the energy and excitement and enthusiasm which the fighters get from this truly amazing event, it is a spectacle to behold and unique in its energy and vitality and definitely not to be missed or experienced in your Martial Art career.

We are very excited about our collaboration with the US Open, the largest and most prestigious tournament in America. The two events will be closely linked in 2011 once again with all winners from the 2011 Irish Open receiving automatic seeding at the 2011 US Open event. All competitor from the 2009 US Open event will receive automatic seeding at the 2011 Irish Open. Both of these world class events are without question the largest events on each continent and it is a natural progression for our sport that they are now associated with each other and cooperate in the development of martial arts on a truly global scale.

The 2010 IO Event saw 32 Countries attend with over 2,150 fighters from all over the world on the mat. We had TV coverage from Setanta Sport and RTE and it was covered in several international magazines. We had the greatest fighters in the world today converge on Dublin to see who really is the best. a very strong female presence with, Sinead Beasley, Yaz Anderson, Ros Wilson ,Natasha Walker, Dileta Faiola. a virtual who is whoon the tournament fighting scene in the world today.  2010 was our first year in Full Contact and what a year 100 + fighters from 16 countries an amazing number for year one, amazing athleiths like, Scott Allan, Damian Lawniczak, Aleksi Vanninen, Robert McAllum , Ahmed Habu, Andreas Lodrup
Karl Martin Richardsen, Christer Kvammen, George Valintini, Rebecca Dillion, Tonje Sorlie, Fam Elgan, Cathrine Fonnes and Birgit Oksnes, what a line up, unmatched in the world today. Nowhere would you see this quality of fighters and variety of countries coupled with a world class arena.

We can not go by without thanking the referees over the years, to many to mention, but with people like,  Brian Beck, Nevil Wray, Elaine Small,  Jacey Cashman, Peter Edwards, Des Leonard, Filippo Fusco, Darragh Geoghegan, Michael McCann, Ilija Salerno and others we really do have the best officials in the world, whose only focus is the safety and enjoyment of the fighter without politics or favour.

Our volunteers are legendary, 140 people helping out over three days to make our experience more enjoyable.

The Logo for 2010 was “DOING IT FOR THE CHILDREN” and it really was a very good description of the 2010 event. We continue to strive to make our event better for the fighter and to this aim we have changes some things in the schedule to bring about a better balance over the entire weekend for the senior fighters. In particular we will be hosting the team event on Friday night 5th

We would like to remind you that all adult registrations take place of Friday 4th March and All Junior/Cadet registrations take place on Saturday 5th March, NO registrations or weight control will be had on Sunday the 6th March.

Open committee is delighted to once again associated with the Irish Society for prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC).

PRE REGISTRATION EVENT

All teams must be FULLY registered on or before 26th February. ABSOLUTELY no late registrations will be accepted. We have automatic pre registration for all teams on line from DEC 2010. This will streamline and automate the registration process. We are very proud of what the Irish Open has become, it really is an amazing event, with so many international fighters. But don’t forget it is one of the very few remaining tournaments, that continues to have white belt (beginner), Green Belt (Intermediate) and brown/Black Belt (Advanced) divisions, separated by weight/height. This truly gives your students a rare opportunity to compete against international fighters of the same level. We look

forward to seeing all our friends at what is a very unique get together of the worlds most talented Martial Artists.

Regards,
